The Heads on Fire Community

 During this intership in the Fab Lab, I learned a lot of things that I never tought I would work with.This experience helped me in alot of ways, personally,and profesionally.The Fab Lab teached me various things that are going to help me in the future.For example, I learned a lot of the solar panels and how they work, my first sketch of a structure and I finally made something that came out right, the drawdio. This experience also kept me busy from other stuff, which I really apreciate that because I actually worked for something usefull.

During this week mostly all I have been doing is sanding. Since im pretty much done with my blogs and my wiki I still need to work on something, so I decided to help jake sand his structure. Were still sanding jakes structure for quite a while. Jakes structure is kind of a large sturcture so we needed everybody to start sanding so we will be done in time. However not everybody is very exited about it, since the wood is kind of hard to sand.

 Yesterday, me, david and jake started to sand the structure a little bit more from the bottom because the structure wouldn't stay still, I also had to take out really big chunks of wood in the edges because they would pretty much  interfere or ruin the structure so we had to take them out in some way or another . The structure rocked back and fourth, so we still noticed that we had a lot of sanding to do in the bottom of the structure so we could get the structure to stand still.

Yesterday me and Troung were working on a sketch for Jake's structure were we will be placing the solar panels .We were trying to figure out some missing lenghts between the two small solar panels so that we could figure out how much space we had to work between the solar panels .If it was too small we wouldn't be able to place the solar panels.

Today me ,Troung, Kayla ,Osman and Christian were talking about Jake's structure and how were going to cut the lights ,the LED's and the solar panels together with the structure. At first we were all thinking of putting the batteries, the chip and some other things on the bottom of the solar panels. However we noticed that it was going to be too heavy for the structure to hold on to, so Kayla suggested that we should only put the batteries at the very bottom of the structure and everything else that's not too heavy on top of the structure with the solar panels.

The structure team is working on some structures that show different cultures by shadows and christmas lights.The teams that need the christmas lights are going to need solar panels to light up the christmas lights at night .The solar panels are going to be provided by the electronics team.We're also going to to all the circuiting of the solar panels and the batteries. The solar panels are going to be placed in with a lattitude of 58.43 degrees to true south.

Today Shani gave us some print out papers of the circuit board to get a little more involved in the solar panel system and to choose a design that would work better for the solar panels.

We had to use:

-two resistors:  An electrical device that resists the flow of an electrical current

-1 led :  light emmitting diode

On friday after i finished my two drawdios I started doing some research on solar panels. I noticed that the solar panels arent so good in a way, everything got its pro's and con's.

The pro's are that you dont have to pay for electricity,the best thing is that if you got a overload of electricity because of the solar panel,the energy company by law has to pay you for saving electricity.

Yesterday I helped Fabiola write a paragarph about Solar Panels, how they were made,what were they made of, what were the advantages and disadvantages.By doing that paragraph i learned a lot about solar panels for example how they help the enviroment ,how the solar panel can help families who dont use that much energy get paid by the energy company instead of them paying.Photovoltaic and solar cells are really thin cells that are made of carbon ,silicon ,hydrogen and oxygen .These cells are made to collect solar energy and convert them to direct sunlight.

The vinyl cutter tutorial was made by me and bashir.The tutorial helped me more than it was supposed to help other people.This experience helped me to learn more about the vinyl cutter.Now since we made that tutorial I can use the vinyl cutter with barley any help.The tutorial helped me to do even more stuff like to print screen something and putting it somewhere else.I also learned to get more out of  adobe photo shop and adobe illustrator.We did every single step, since the first step of opening up adobe illustrat
