The Heads on Fire Community

This structure symbolize the power and energy. If the structure were being look from the top it will look like the sun. Power and energy is needed in everyday life and if we don't conserve it, there won't be any left in the future. This structure is power completely by solar energy, all the lights and LED lights are being charge in the morning and will light up at night. This structure is self sustainable and can be put anywhere in sunlight and it will work. Also 99% of this structure is press fit. This whole structure can be put together without any screws.

During my summer internship at Fablab I learn a lot of things here. We were taught how to use technology to make almost anything in our daily life. At Fablab we have machines like shopbot, epilog machine, Modella and the 3D printer and also the vinyl cutter machine. During this time I been here, I think I have master 2 machines, the epilog laser machine and the sticker machine. I also have learn how to use Adobe Illustrator, this program enable me to draw all the things on before I transfer it to any of the machine to cut it out.

Everyone in the structure team has been separated into 3 teams with different theme. I have been choose to be on the solar/ energy team. Kristna and Tresoir is in my team. I have build a base for the structure and Kristna has build a top piece, and we decide to combine the two. Here is the picture of it.

Everyone was divided into 2 groups, structure and electronic. In the structure group, we have to think of ideas to create a big sculpture only using pressfit.  It was kinda hard since esteban gave us only an hour to design and cut the project. I draw everything in Adobe Illustrator, it was kinda hard since we have to have the exact press on both side of the woods otherwise it won't fit.  After the drawing process, I cut my file on the shopbot and it turn out good. What is it ?

Fablab required everyone to make a personal project which represent your past, present and future.

How is it made ?

I made the wall of the school with cardboard, I use the vinyl machine to cut out all the window for the school. The railing and the flag pole, I use the laser machine to cut it out.
