Last Thursday our group of interns presented the cell phone holder for a lady named Pam that has a disease called multiple sclerosis which basically is when her body is paralyzed from the neck down. She can move her hands but does not have the strength to grab her cell phone or push the buttons so we designed the holder to what we think would suit her needs and so she could be able to use it on her daily life. When we started developing ideas we started to design it in a way that would suit her needs from the way she was sitting until the point in which she would be using a mouth piece to click the buttons to make calls. We first started on the angle that the phone holder would be at so that it could be facing her correctly. This was the prototype on which we build up on, it looks something like this:
When we put more thought on to the design we started to use a hose clamp to hold the piece on to the cell phone holder and when we started on the design we used a semicircle plastic piece so that it would cut friction from the force that Pam would be applying on the cell phone holder... it kind of looks like this:
